Intensity is against Trump by 2-1: Forty-five percent of Americans strongly disapprove of his job performance, vs. 22 percent who strongly approve.
Older Americans also have a more favorable view of Trump, according to the poll: 47 percent of Americans age 50 and up approve of Trump's time in office compared to just 22 percent of Americans who are younger than 30.
Almost one in 10 Americans think it's acceptable to hold white nationalist or neo-Nazi views, according to a new poll that also tracked President Donald Trump's response to the violence that erupted in Charlottesville, Virginia earlier this month.
Although the alt-right prominently features white supremacists and neo-Nazis, only 39% of those polled said they believe the group holds such views, while 21% said it does not.
John Cena Brought to Tears By Fans
John Cena is usually the one to surprise his fans in hilarious videos, or give people help when they need it most. Cena may not have remembered it, but he had given Tyler one of his wristbands at a WWE event.
Asked if the USA president equated white supremacists with counter-protesters, 42% said he did, while 23% said he did not. Perhaps most notable is the gender gap in Trump's overall approval rating, 46 percent among men vs. 28 percent among women.
Among Democrats, an overwhelming 84 percent disapproved of Trump's response, compared to just 6 percent who approved of the president's messaging.
Strength of sentiment is similarly negative for Trump on Charlottesville and, notably, his lower approval rating for handling this issue occurs in his base.
Only 9percent overall say such views are acceptable.
Trump's job approval rating stood at 37 percent, with 58 percent disapproving, in the ABC/Post survey.
An additional 13 percent of strong Trump supporters have no opinion on whether it's acceptable or not. The results have a margin of error of 3.5 points.
