"The city and suburbs received a few showers in the last few hours but rainfall wasn't heavy like yesterday", said KS Hosalikar, a senior India Metrological Department official. In another incident in Vikhroli's Suryanagar, two persons were killed when a portion of a house collapsed following the torrential rains.
On Wednesday, Mumbai and surrounding areas witnessed heavy rainfall.
"I have to give credit to the people, to the employees and officers of the corporation and all other people like the police, the BST and brought Mumbai back on its feet", he added. The civic body's plan to tackle the situation and rescue the people worked quite well, Mehta claimed. Similar wet conditions shall prevail in the Konkan districts of Palghar, Thane, Mumbai, Raigad, Ratnagiri and Sindhudurg over the next 48-72 hours.
