The man seems unaffected when the officer fires the stun gun and quickly rushes toward the officer. The officer then discovered the item was not a weapon.

A second officer was struck by the gunfire and wounded.

New Castle police said as their officers ran up to call off the dog, Burke pulled a handgun and fired a shot at close range into the chest of one of the officers.

The video, which appears to be taken from inside a vehicle in the parking lot, starts with the officer pointing a stun gun at the man and ordering him to sit down.

An officer ordered the man to drop the item but the man refused and continued to move toward the officers, Moore said.

They also arrested 14 organizers of the vote, including several top Catalan government officials. Visitors to Barcelona are being warned of demonstrations in the city that could disrupt travel.

According to Warren, the man continued to approach the officer, who deployed his taser.

The officer's injuries aren't believed to be serious as he was protected by a vest. She was taken to a hospital and was last listed in critical condition.

The investigation is now in the hands of the Connecticut State Police and the State Attorney, as is the protocol for an officer-involved shooting.

Both men were taken to a hospital for treatment of their gunshot wounds. The officer suffered non-life-threatening injuries, authorities said.

The shooting of the officers led to a long standoff between authorities and Monroe, which ended around 3 p.m. when SWAT team members entered the gunman's home and shot him.
