To mark Nissan's 20-year involvement with the Gran Turismo Sport game franchise, the Japanese automaker created this one-off project: a life size GT-R controlled entirely by a DualShock4, and piloted by NISMO athlete and GT Academy victor Jann Mardenborough around Silverstone's famous National Circuit in the UK.
Its latest stunt is the ideal cross-over between real life and video games, though - the company hooked up a GT-R with servomotors and robotics to control steering, acceleration, braking and gearshifts, and then made all that run through a PlayStation 4 controller.
The one-off project auto was extensively modified to be driven entirely by a PlayStation 4 DualShock 4 controller to celebrate the release of Gran Turismo Sport, out in Europe and Australasia on October 18th, and marking 20 years of Nissan involvement in the Gran Turismo gaming series.
Put together by Nissan Great Britain, the team hooked up a DualShock controller to allow racing driver Jann Mardenborough to drive the GT-R flat out around Silverstone circuit from a helicopter.
The one-off Nissan GT-R/C - with a top speed of 196mph - can be controlled by just a PlayStation 4 gamepad.
The vehicle ultimately completed a lap of 1:17.47, averaging 76 miles per hour (122 km/h) and hitting a top speed of 131 miles per hour (211 km/h).
Twitter now supports Apple's new emoji
The video below from the guys over at 9 to 5 Mac give us a look at some of the new features in the latest beta of iOS 11.1. Technology giant Apple has unveiled hundreds of new emojis, which will include gender-neutral characters.
The auto, called the GT-R/C, was built by JLB Design, a company famous for constructing life-size remote-controlled vehicles.
Nissan has come up with something very appreciable innovation to celebrate releasing of the Gran Turismo Sport on 18th October. It is operated using an unmodified PlayStation DualShock 4 controller, and the system can operate the vehicle from up to 1 kilometer away.
To achieve this the GT-R was kitted out with four special robots that could operate the steering, transmission, brakes and throttle, with the work done by UK's JLB Design. As a victor of the Nissan GT Academy competition that combines virtual racing with actual track races, Mardenborough was a natural choice for the task.
Six computers in the boot update controls 100 times a second.
That micro-computer is responsible for interpreting the joystick and button signals and transmitting those signals to the car's onboard systems. The auto has a wireless operation range of about one kilometer.
Jann said: "This was once-in-a-lifetime, truly epic stuff". The GT-R /C was enginered by JLB Design which used a standard spec V6-powered R35.
