"After eight years enduring the Obama administration's hostility toward everything from religious liberty to the unborn, values voters were eager to see President Trump accelerate the undoing of Obama's policies", Family Research Council President Tony Perkins wrote on the conservative website Breitbart recently.
"Bannon is a man on a mission - with the 2016 election being his Act I, Bannon's sights are set on the U.S. Senate as his Act II", Perkins wrote in his op-ed in Breitbart. "How times have changed".
'We protect religious liberty, ' he said.
Trump also denounced the Johnson Amendment, which prohibits houses of worship from engaging in political activities, promising that he will "not allow government workers to censor sermons, or target our pastors, our ministers, our rabbis".
"When America is unified, no force on Earth can break us apart", Trump said.

White-only Catholics voted for Mitt Romney by a slight margin, while President Trump won them overwhelmingly. The constituency is vital for Trump, whose approval has dipped even in red states such as Tennessee (-23 percentage points), MS (-21) and Kentucky (-20), according to a Morning Consult survey published this week.
But he mistakenly said he had spoken to "the president" of the Virgin Islands. Last year, Trump addressed the anti-LGBT confab when he was the Republican presidential nominee.
