San Jose's Veterans Day Parade will take place on Saturday, starting from the Highway 87 overpass at Santa Clara Street and go along Market Street to San Carlos Street. Speakers will include Ernest Shorey, Andrews Post 17, American Legion; Portland Mayor Ethan Strimling; and the Rev. William Doughty. An ending ceremony will be held at Haddad Riverfront Park at 11 a.m. The route is created to accommodate a ceremony at Savannah Veterans Park immediately following the end of the parade at approximately 10:45 a.m. Following the ceremony, a luncheon for veterans is at East End United Methodist Church on the corner of East Main and Fairground Street.
Veterans Day is Saturday, and many in the Bay Area will be celebrating those who have served in the military.
Following the ceremony in the park, the ceremony will move to the roundabout on the eastside of town.Parking will be available in the Schwans and Olon Industries parking lots.

According to history.com, Veterans Day originated as Armistice Day on November 11, 1919, the first anniversary of the end of World War I. Congress passed a resolution in 1926 for an annual observance, and November 11 became a national holiday beginning in 1938.
The parade was followed by a brief ceremony in front of Mooresville town hall, lunch and a concert on the town hall lawn.
Preceding the parade, a wreath will be placed at the Medal of Honor monument at the Hardin County Courthouse at 9 a.m.
