Though it is still unclear that what is the real reason behind the issue, the fact that Apple has come forward immediately and accepted it is being seen as a positive action from the company.

Another user from Minneapolis, where it was 7F (-14C), reported similar issues and confirmed that locking and unlocking the phone solved the issue.

For now, the phone should return to normal within seconds. Most probably, the fix will come in iOS 11.2, which is now under a beta testing.
