He is the second DPS Trooper to be killed in the line of duty this month.
A Waller County Sheriff K9 apparently helped capture the man wanted for shooting a Texas state trooper dead on Thanksgiving.

Texas DPS identified the trooper as 41-year-old Damon Allen who joined the department in 2002. The suspect is a black male, 5-foot-11 inches tall and weighs 175 pounds. The suspect then fled the scene.
Black has a previous criminal history that includes evading arrest and violence toward law enforcement, authorities say. The WCSO reported shots fired prior to Black's apprehension, but did not indicate who opened fire.
The shooting happened in Freestone County which is about 90 miles southeast of Dallas, Texas.
Authorities from multiple agencies are searching for the suspect.
