It's that time of year: Overwatch's seasonal event for the holidays, Winter Wonderland, returns December 12 on PlayStation 4, Windows PC and Xbox One, developer Blizzard Entertainment announced today. Old maps King's Row and Hanamura will receive "seasonal passes", or themed decorations for the holidays. This will include new Legendary skins for Hanzo, Junkrat, and Roadhog, and the skins previously released for last year's event.
Additionally, this year's Winter Wonderland will feature a number of appropriately festive map makeovers.
We'll keep you posted about skins and more. This enables Blizzard to keep the game running and profitable even as it gives away characters and maps at no additional charge. The mode is a "boss fight", according to Kaplan, but the Winston is also player-controlled.
Speaking of Mei, Blizzard is planning a new event around the snowy scientist.
Blizzard is also introducing Mei's Yeti Hunt. The big thing here is that a player will actually control the yeti, which is a powered up version of Winston. Players are tasked with hunting him down before his rage sets in.
Ireland to finally start reclaiming Apple back taxes
According to the EU, the tax deal allowed Apple to pay nearly nothing in tax on its European profits between 2003 and 2014. Whether or not the original ruling gets overturned remains to be seen.
Going by previous returning events, you can expect to see last year's Winter Wonderland rewards return in addition to new skins, emotes, sprays, and other cosmetics that will make their way into the loot boxes.
"I know a lot of you are thinking it sounds kind of ridiculous and kind of silly, and I'm here to tell you it absolutely is", Kaplan said. "But the point of some of these seasonal brawls are just to be fun to be fun and light and refreshing for a short period of time".
When the Winter Wonderland event is over, it will take Mei's Yeti Hunt with it.
In a developer update video, Overwatch daddy and game director Jeff Kaplan confirmed several exciting aspects of Winter Wonderland 2017.
