YouTube is on its way to launch its new paid music service which will be out by March next year. They hinted that more music features could be coming.
In what may be music to the ears of Facebook users, they can now add some of their favorite songs to videos they upload and share.
The move marks a new foray into music by Facebook, which despite its global conquest had been low-key in developing music functions compared with fellow tech titans Apple, Google and Amazon. Additionally, YouTube aims to crack down on user uploads of copyrighted music on the platform under the deal. There's been some experimentation with music-based VR and AR experiences in recent years, certainly, but the complexities of label negotiations mean it's out of the realm of possibility for most virtual reality developers. As the rise in streaming has demonstrated, making money in the post-physical-media age can be tough, with concerts usually expected to offset the shortfall in content sales. They'll also be able to personalize their music experiences while sharing videos.

And while he joins a shaky team that won just 64 games last season, Longoria is a lucrative piece for bouncing back quickly. He has often expressed a desire to finish his career with the Rays and signed two team friendly contracts.
It's not the first such push for UMG, mind.
The two companies did not reveal the terms of their partnership. UMG represents artists including Taylor Swift, Kanye West, and Lady Gaga.
Tamara Hrivnak, head of music business development and partnerships, Facebook, said of the deal: "There is a magnetic relationship between music and community building".
With this deal, the companies hope to "advance the interests of recording artists and songwriters while enhancing the social experience of music for their fans", says Michael Nash, UMG's Executive Vice President of Digital Strategy, in a statement.
