A raging fire erupted at the London Zoo in the early hours of December 23 as fearless firefighters rushed to put out the insane blaze. The fire has caused damage in a café and shop, which is near the penguin pool and camel enclosure.
One aardvark has died and four meerkats are missing after a fire broke out at a zoo in central London early Saturday.
London Fire Brigade (LFB) said the fire broke out in a cafe and shop near the Meerkat enclosure and an animal petting area.
The zoo remained closed to the public on what had been expected to be a busy day at the popular facility in Regent's Park.
News reports that one person was taken to a local hospital and eight others were treated at the scene.
"Approximately three quarters of an adventure cafe and shop and half of the roof is now alight".

Dominic Jermey, director general for ZSL, said some staff were treated for smoke inhalation and shock.
The tweet said: "ZSL London Zoo is now dealing with an incident on site after a fire broke out. We will update as quickly as the situation allows".
The fire brigade said it had sent 10 fire engines and 72 firefighters to the scene and added that the cause of the blaze was under investigation. "The zoo with be open tomorrow, Sunday 24 December, from 10am".
"The fire mainly involved the cafe and shop but part of a nearby animal petting area was also affected", said Station Manager David George.
The fire brigade was called at 6.08am.
