Police said the man was arrested and jailed for unlawfully carrying a weapon and trespassing.
When cops took him back to his room, they found "several guns", Macintosh said. The downtown hotel had planned a New Year's Eve celebration that expected hundreds of people to attend a 50,000 balloon drop. Investigators also searched his vehicle and found weapons inside. "We are fully cooperating with authorities on an investigation, and further questions should be directed to the Houston Police Department", the statement read. Houston Police Chief Art Acevedo tweeted about the incident, saying the situation is contained and there is no specific threat to Houston.
