Dominika Egorova (Lawrence) is a Sparrow, a weapon "in the global struggle for power".
You can get a new look at Red Sparrow before it hits theaters in just a few months with the all-new trailer, a breathtaking TV spot and the official poster released by 20th Century Fox. And yet it's actually the premise for the (oh-so-similarly titled) Red Sparrow, an upcoming "original" thriller headlined by Jennifer Lawrence and helmed by The Hunger Games: Catching Fire director Francis Lawrence. A devoted daughter determined to protect her mother at all costs. She is put into a no-win scenario where she must either accept training to become a Sparrow, or she will die. "A master of seductive and manipulative combat". Amid such erotically devious behavior (taught to her by Charlotte Rampling and Matthias Schoenaerts), Lawrence falls into an amorous affair with a Central Intelligence Agency agent (Joel Edgerton), who clearly wants her to defect, in large part because he realizes (as Jeremy Irons's bigwig intones) that she has a "soul" that makes her different than the rest of her "sparrow" compatriots. Lawrence plays Dominikia Egorova, a young woman who is recruited into Russia's secretive Sparrow spy school and forced to undergo a brutal training regime, from which she emerges as a ruthless agent. And a Russian saying, "If she is compromised, she will be eliminated".
Tesla sinks after missing Model 3 deliveries by a mile (TSLA)
Tesla announced Wednesday it delivered 101,312 Model S and Model X cars in 2017, a 33 percent rise over its 2016 figures. The company said Model 3 deliveries to non-employee customers, "are now accelerating rapidly".
"One of the things that drew me into the story, is that it really is a personal story for a character, which I think is pretty rare in terms of the spy genre". Once she's in the sparrow program, however, Dominika finds the real battle isn't for country - it's to retain her soul, as the program tries to strip it away from her.
Jennifer Lawrence has been known for pushing herself to the edge for her roles, even going so far as to apparently tear her diaphragm during the film of mother! from screaming too much. Fans of Lawrence in X-Menand The Hunger Gameswill get to see her kick butt again.
