The Uttar Pradesh Police, in a statement, said, "As many as seven cases have been registered so far in the Kasganj violence and so far, 114 people have been arrested". Police teams led by Inspector General (IG) Sanjeev Gupta raided some houses in Baddu Nagar and picked up four suspects for interrogation.
The police believe the rumours contributed to an escalation in mob violence after which 30 people were sent to jail and 112 were arrested. As per reports on India Today, an unidentified person shouted "Pakistan Zindabad" triggering the communal clash. While police refused to divulge more details about the accused, Kasganj Superintendent of Police Piyush Srivastava said notices pertaining to attachment of properties had been pasted on the houses of the accused.
Authorities also stopped a Congress delegation in Mirhachi area in Etah near the Kasganj border. The videos surfaced on social media early on Wednesday.
Stray incidents of violence were reported from the western Uttar Pradesh town which continued to be tense with heavy deployment of RAF and PAC personnel to keep a check on rumour mongers and trouble makers.

UTTAR Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath on Tuesday promised stringent action against culprits involved in Kasganj communal clashes while the Centre sought a report from his Government on the violence that left one dead. Opposition parties have also attacked the state government over the clashes.
The arrest came on a day Vishwa Hindu Parishad and Bajrang Dal activists took out Tricolour protest marches in several districts, ignoring prohibitory orders. "Meanwhile, bullet shots were heard from the alleyway, after which the (yatra) group started pelting stones on people from the other community and both groups exchanged fire and even targeted policemen", the FIR says.
The UP Police said drone cameras had been deployed for aerial surveillance and described the situation as improving.
U.P DGP O.P. Singh said the police was vigilant and the violence was contained within hours in Kasganj.
