After all, it's not every day that a space rock flies this close to the Earth, and scientists at the Jet Propulsion Laboratory in La Cañada Flintridge say there is no chance it will impact the planet. While asteroid 2018 CC safely skimmed past Earth on February 6 at 12:10 p.m. PST (3:10 p.m. EST), the other asteroid 2018 CB is all set for a close flyby of Earth on February 9, Friday.
The first of this week's close-approaching asteroids-discovered by CSS on February 4-is designated asteroid 2018 CC.
Neither asteroid poses a threat to Earth.
He claimed that the 2018 CB asteroid will closely approach Earth but will not pose a threat to the planet.
Look Arsenal just the tonic for Wenger
The former Gunners defender told the Daily Mail : "I originally likened them to [Dennis] Bergkamp and [Marc] Overmars". Santi was an exceptional football player. "He will be a bit sharper on Saturday than he was last week", Wenger said .
The size of the asteroid 2018 CB is estimated to be between 50 and 130 feet (15 and 40 meters).
NASA only spotted the giant rock last Sunday and have warned it is double the size of the meteor that hit Chelyabinsk in 2013, smashing windows and injuring more than 1,000 people.
It is the second asteroid to pass by the planet this week.
Anything that comes closer than 4,650,000 miles of Earth is classified by NASA as a "near-Earth object" (NEO) and is classed as "hazardous". Scientists estimated the asteroid was 50-100 feet in diameter.
The asteroid is now known as 2018 CB, and its closest approach comes on the heels of another asteroid flyby, which occurred Tuesday at 12:10 p.m.
