Criticizing congress for under development of Tripura, Jaitely said the main opposition of the region had betrayed the people of the state, which helps BJP to grow in Northeast as a whole. He also said that Tripura has risen in revolt against the traditional parties like CPI (M) and Congress.
Ahead of the February 18 Tripura elections, the BJP has committed to provide one job opportunity to every family in the state while dispelling the rising fear of people over possible division of the state. There is anger against the Communist Party of India (Marxist) (CPI-M) government throughout the state.
Top BJP leaders, including President Amit Shah, Union Ministers Jaitley and Nitin Gadkari, General Secretary Ram Madhav, Shahnawaz Hussain, West Bengal's Mukul Roy and Locket Chatterjee besides Sarma are in the state to campaign.
The "Swarnajug" or golden age in Tripura, as claimed by the ruling CPM, was a "failure", he said, while describing the BJP's promises of "acche din" as "treachery". He reiterated that, people this time would surely oust the present left government from power and would bring BJP for true development for all. He said state government employees in Tripura were still getting salaries based on the 4th Pay Commission's recommendations.
The BJP is contesting for 51 out of the 60 Assembly seats, while its ally Indigenous Peoples Front of Tripura (IPFT) is fighting in nine seats.

Attacking the Manik Sarkar-led Left government, he said: "Following their party ideology and unrealistic approach, the Left government in Tripura kept the investment away from the industry starved states". The election results of all the three northeastern states will be announced on March 3.
