Kuo's report follows a recent one from Bloomberg which claimed that Apple is planning an upgrade to its popular AirPods which will bring support for "Hey Siri" and a new wireless chip. Apple has experimented with high-excursion speaker drivers, using them for the HomePod for example, and so might have designs on using similar technology for its headphones. This also means that the new over-the-ear headphones could be wireless.
Users only need to open the AirPods' bundled charging case next to an iPhone to pair the headphones.
