San Francisco police released a statement Sunday naming Smith as a suspect in a Saturday night incident in San Francisco.
On the weekend of February 11, 2017, Smith's name appeared in a report taken by SFPD from a domestic-related investigation, according to TMZ Sports, but no arrests were made. Investigators from the SFPD Special Victims Unit want to interview Smith about the incident.
While TMZ did not mention the woman's name in its latest report, the gossip site revealed about a week ago that Smith had proposed to his girlfriend Shawna McKnight.
According to San Francisco Police radio dispatch recordings, Smith was inside the victim's apartment when she was on the phone reporting the incident. He voluntarily entered rehab and missed five games that season. "He complied. They went and got him". He added Smith fled the San Francisco home before officers arrived.

"The dispatcher said Smith was wearing a black 49ers sweatshirt and grey sweatpants".
In the past Smith has also been detained as a suspect for making false bomb threats at an airport in 2014, and he was charged with possession of illegal assault weapons in 2013. Smith, still technically a member of the Oakland Raiders, has been suspended since November 2015 due to a hit-and-run that took place in August 2015. The Raiders had signed Smith to a two-year contract before the 2016 season, but he never was cleared by the league to be able to return from suspension.
Smith, a first-round draft pick in 2011, has not played in the National Football League since 2015 when he was suspended after he was charged with his third DUI in four years.
