The California Highway Patrol was responding on Friday to an incident at a veterans' home in Napa Valley after local media said there were reports of shots fired and a possible hostage situation.
The Veterans Home of California-Yountville, at 260 California Drive, was founded in 1884, and is the largest veterans' home in the United States. They said there were thankfully no injuries known as of 2 p.m. and that the public should stay away from the area. Kamer's wife, Devereaux Smith, is a fundraiser for the nonprofit Pathway Home and was at the party.
Chris Childs with California Highway Patrol said he can not confirm what type of rifle the gunman has. It is located in Yountville, north of San Francisco. He says officers are working to establish a secure perimeter around the facility and make sure others are safe.

An armored police vehicle, ambulances and several fire trucks were at the facility, which is home to about 1,000 residents. Its website says it offers residential accommodations with recreational, social, and therapeutic activities for independent living. The home has been on lock down since and those in the area have been asked to shelter in place.
A SWAT team is also on the way to the scene. He said he did not know if the shooter was a veteran receiving treatment from the home.
