Thomas Tuchel has reportedly entered "negotiations" with the north London club after turning down Bayern Munich.
But according to former Bayern player Matthaus, Tuchel is in contact with Arsenal over a new job. "I've always worked my whole life about with the idea of who you are rather than how you look so I'm not too concerned about that".
Yesterday there were reports - also reliable - that Tuchel wouldn't take over at Bayern Munich because he'll go overseas.
"I just thought the combination of history, the fact that he's a long term player for the club, the fact that he has experience and knowledge now, I trust now to make him captain".
"I think that Thomas Tuchel has the quality to coach Bayern", he said.

While Arsenal remain in the Europa League, they will face CSKA Moscow in the quarter-finals, Wenger has rubbished the idea of leaving on a high.
"I appreciate Thomas Tuchel, he made his way through the ranks at Mainz from the youth teams".
Missing out on Champions League football is reported to be set to cost Arsenal around £29m in lost revenue per season.
The Gunners find themselves sixth in the Premier League and are in danger of missing out on Champions League football for the second season running.
The Sunday morning links to Tuchel have some Arsenal fans excited about what may be next season.
Of course, the possibility of Tuchel going to Arsenal is more complicated than at first glance because it's dependent on a manager musical chairs/domino theory at work. In the Premier league Wenger has started Holding 6 times to Chambers 5, although Calum has also been played as a right back at times, so Wenger doesn't seem to have a preference on paper and seems to treat them equally.
