The fallout from Wednesday night's benches-clearing brawl between the Boston Red Sox and New York Yankees has begun, with Major League Baseball handing out two suspensions for the incident Thursday night. Austin rushed the mound after being struck by a pitch from Kelly.
As the scene played out, photographers Maddie Meyer and Charles Krupa captured some incredible photos of the fight. Kepler's second home run was a walk off, which helped Minnesota avoid blowing an early 8-1 lead.
The benches actually cleared twice during the middle contest of a three-game set between the long-time rivals and Yankees' designated hitter Tyler Austin was in the middle of both scuffles.
Gary Sanchez was the star of the show in the Yankees' eventual 10-7 victory as he cracked two brilliant home-runs, although the match will forever be remembered for a violent brawl that broke out during the contest.
That is certainly a welcome sight to the Red Sox.
The Reviews Are In For Ronda Rousey's WrestleMania Debut
After so much promo and "hype", Brock Lesnar went up against Vince McMahon's beloved Roman Reigns and his non-existent empire. On the pre-show, Cedric Alexander won the Cruiserweight Championship tournament beating Mustafa Ali with the Lumbar Check.
Sanchez came into the night two for his last 26 and good numbers of Boston starter David Price.
NY prevailed 10-7 at Fenway Park, but there was plenty of excitement and drama from both teams.
"I think it's probably over with", Yankees manager Aaron Boone told The Athletic's Marc Carig. "I'm not going to turn a double play on that, especially with Wade running, so I think he was just going in hard, but he went in hard a little late with his spikes up". After all the dust settled, the Red Sox still found themselves down by four to the score of 10-6.
Unfortunately, the only thing the Red Sox won was the brawl. Judge and Stanton went a combined 5-9 with three RBIs. Sonny Gray takes the hill for the Yanks as Rick Porcello counters him for the Red Sox. The Sox bullpen would once again falter allowing six more runs through the final eight innings.
