Motorola's E line often sits in our list of the best cheap phones as it manages to supply lots of spec for an affordable price. These devices are further expanded with "Plus" and "Play" models for those users that want the same device, just a tiny bit larger or with a bigger battery. At that price, no one should expect the ultra-narrow bezels and curved displays we're seeing in the high-end flagship devices. This is great for watching widescreen movies or TV and makes sense from a design perspective, too.
Adapting some of the more notable features of those higher-end products for a less expensive handset was a primary consideration for the Moto G6, and it shows. Most markets will only get one or two of the three models, which Motorola says is an attempt to simplify the offerings - and indeed, when you look at these three phones it's hard to see what market would demand the choice of all three. They all share similar designs with glass backs and 18:9 displays across the board. It also has Front-ported loud speaker and Dolby Audio. On the one hand, there's the risk that the E5's are overlooked in the hype surrounding the Moto G6.
It's a little over a year since we first clapped eyes on the G5 range Plus Mobile World Congress in Barcelona. The Huawei P20 has a monochrome sensor to support the main one, while the LG G6 has opted for a wide-angle second camera to fit more in.
The G6 Plus is a slightly more powerful version of the G6. All three come with f/1.7 apertures.
For 2018, the Moto G family consists of the Moto G6 Play, G6, and G6 Plus. There's no need to hold down the home button or tap anything - simply point the phone at a landmark or object, and the G6 will identify it or link to a Google search where applicable. I tried it with a small plant and the Moto G6 correctly identified it as a succulent and brought information up on screen. As for optics, there is a 13-megapixels with PDAF and LED flash while at the front, there is a 5-megapixels with selfie flash.
The Queen's Last Corgi Has Died
She has two more dogs that are still with her - Vulcan and Candy - known as the "dorgis", a cross between a corgi and a dachshund. Though the Queen had to say goodbye to her long line of royal corgis, she's not done with being a dog mom just yet.
In summary: There is nothing about the Moto E5 line that differentiates it from any other decent, low-priced phone. The rear camera can record 1080p 30fps videos.
On the camera front, the Moto G6 features a dual camera setup on the rear, which pairs a 12MP primary sensor and a 5MP secondary sensor. It also uses a microUSB connector and charger rather than the USB-C on the other two phones. However, it gets the 1.4GHz quad-core Snapdragon 425 chip inside, with 2GB of RAM to keep things running. All in all, it's certainly a pity the E5 and G6 Plus are not coming to the US.
Aside from packing faster cores, the Snapdragon 450 uses 14nm transistors, half the size of the 430's. The phone comes with Android 8.0 Oreo, out of the box. Firing up the camera app and taking a quick snap, for example, was a lag-free experience. The E5 Plus is inarguably the nicer-looking phone, but they both feel good in their own ways. It has 3GB of RAM and 32GB of expandable storage.
Both models will support extra storage with a microSD card up to 128GB. The phone has 802.11a/b/g/n Wi-Fi, Bluetooth 4.2 LE, A-GPS, GLONASS, BDS and has 3.5mm headphone jack. But the Moto G6 has a few more tricks up its sleeve including TurboPower Charging, 3D Gorilla Glass finishes and unique camera features. While these are not considered "high-end" smartphones, they have numerous same features of more expensive phones.
