Nassar pleaded guilty to molesting female athletes under the guise of medical treatment and was sentenced this year to life in prison.
Marta Karolyi, in a deposition given previous year as part of the lawsuit against the Karolyis and numerous others, acknowledged that "in or around June 2015" she received a phone call from the then-head of the national gymnastics organization, Steve Penny, informing her that the organization had received a complaint that Nassar had "molested a national team gymnast at the ranch". They have been named in lawsuits. In a statement Tuesday, USA Gymnastics declined to address the specifics of Wieber's lawsuit.
Her gymnastics teammates Aly Raisman, Gabby Douglas and Jordyn Wieber have also said Nassar abused them in his role with the team.
"I wasn't listened to, cared about or believed, and all of those things need to be weeded out of society because that's where things went wrong", she said at the event.
Nassar is now serving three concurrent jail sentences of up to 175 years, having plead guilty to a number of sexual assault charges earlier this year. Like numerous more than 250 girls and women who have accused Nassar of abuse, Wieber alleged the assaults occurred when she thought she was receiving legitimate medical treatment, including for a torn hamstring she sustained when she was 14. He continued to work at Michigan State University through the fall of 2016 before being hit with federal charges.

Chelsea's ever-present Marcos Alonso sealed his place at the left-back position making him the only name from the Blues. Despite Pep Guardiola's team's dominance of the league, there are more star-studded names throughout the squad.
In other cases, MSU destroyed medical records of people who reported abuse or harassment to MSU police later, but they were all destroyed in accordance with state law and MSU's record retention policy, according to the report.
The USOC did not respond to a request for comment, while a Michigan State spokesman said in a statement, "We are deeply sorry for abuse the survivors suffered at the hands of Larry Nassar and are working to make sure that something like this can never happen again".
The Karolyis, who helped USA Gymnastics win 41 Olympic medals, including 13 gold over three decades, trained hundreds of gymnasts at their complex in rural Huntsville, Texas, known as "the ranch". Good question: Why the hell should I have to pay for what you did, Michigan State? She's also twice served as interim director of the School of Hospitality Business. The organization said in January it wouldn't seek to punish Maroney if she chose to break the agreement.
"The whole gymnastics community couldn't recognize this", Martha Karolyi said in an excerpt provided to The Associated Press on Friday by NBC.
Guthrie said she was "surprised" the Karolyis came forward despite the potential legal fallout.
