Police say it appears his father gave those guns back - including the AR-15 assault rifle that Reinking allegedly used to kill four people and wound two others.
"The shots had stopped so he chose to rush the gunman, actually wrestled that assault rifle away, tossed it over the counter and, at that point, the gunman fled", police spokesperson Don Aaron said.
Witnesses say a patron wrestled with the gunman and was able to get the weapon away from him.
After an investigation by police in IL and the FBI, authorities removed four guns from 29-year-old Travis Reinking's home and gave them to his father. A shirtless, shoeless man believed to be him was spotted in the woods nearby, police said.
The AR-15 style rifle listed was the same weapon used in Sunday's Waffle House shooting, which killed four people, according to the Metropolitan Nashville Police.
Almost eight months later, Reinking is now under investigation for allegedly opening fire at a 24-hour restaurant on Murfreesboro Pike in Antioch, killing four and injuring several more.
Nashville Mayor David Briley described the shooting as "a tragic day" for the city. The protests followed February's mass shooting at a high school in Parkland, Florida, in which a former student killed 17 people with an assault rifle.

Reinking was arrested by the U.S. Secret Service for being in a restricted area near the White House in July, 2017. "I just knew it was me or him". Family present at the time said that Reinking had delusions since 2014 involving singer Taylor Swift, whom he believed was stalking and harassing him. "I went behind a push door - a swivel door", Shaw said. Police said the suspect arrived in a auto registered to Reinking. "I figured if I was going to die, he was going to have to work for it".
Travis Reinking was known to police before the deadly shooting. Interestingly, this wasn't Shaw's original choice for his late-night meal; he and his friends had initially gone to a different Waffle House, but left when they found it was too crowded. Dasilva was wounded at the restaurant and died at the hospital.
Shanita Waggoner, 21, of Nashville, and Sharita Henderson, 24, of Antioch, were injured and are being treated at Vanderbilt.
Mr Shaw says following a tussle with the gunman he pushed him out the door.

Reports stated that after that run-in, Federal Bureau of Investigation coordinated with the Illinois State Police and Tazewell County authorities to revoke his gun license.
Aaron noted, "Travis Reinking's whereabouts are presently unknown".
"At this point, the young man could be anywhere, and whether he may try to return home is a distinct possibility", Huston said.
He then went inside the Waffle House and continued firing, killing two more people, police said.
