A controversy has erupted over the presence of Jinnah's portrait at the AMU, with BJP leaders demanding that it be removed.
The Aligarh Muslim University (AMU) erupted in protest after armed extremists, reportedly associated with Hindu Yuva Vahini, barged in the campus and tried to disrupt an event organized in the honor of former President of India and also ex-Vice Chancellor of AMU, Hamid Ansari on Wednesday.

After watching the videos of AMU students being chased by the police and being "mercilessly beaten up", he felt it was time to speak out against this "injustice".
Six people were injured in the incident when police fired the teargas to disperse the crowd. "I felt that was very unfair and I shared my thought to express my anguish", he said.
