San Francisco 49ers linebacker Reuben Foster entered not-guilty pleas Tuesday in Santa Clara, Calif., to three felony charges stemming from a February 11 incident involving his ex-girlfriend, ESPN.com reported. The woman flagged down a stranger's auto on Shannon Road and asked the driver to call 911, according to the Santa Clara County district attorney's office. In April, Foster's girlfriend, Elissa Ennis, issued a statement through her attorney, Stephanie Rickard, recanting the allegations and saying she made up the story about Foster punching her repeatedly in an attempt to "trash his career" after Foster tried to break off the relationship.Rickard provided the district attorney video evidence just two weeks ago that the defense says will exonerate Foster.
Ennis told police that Foster had thrown her out of their home three times on February 11, dragged her by her hair during one of those episodes, hit her eight to 10 times during another and broke her cell phone as she tried to call 911.
Ennis' testimony - paired with the video Ennis' attorney claims shows Ennis getting into a fight with another woman and suffering a ruptured ear drum - could ultimately be the tipping point for the defense.
After recanting her domestic violence accusation, Ennis said her injuries were suffered during a fight with another woman and not at the hands of Foster. He faces two charges of domestic violence and one felony charge of possession of an assault weapon.
A preliminary hearing has been set for May 17.
- Foster and Ennis weren't the only ones interviewed by police that morning. "(Foster) did not strike her, injure her or threaten her", said the woman's attorney.
That video caused a delay in Foster's plea hearing on April 30 when the Santa Clara County District Attorney's Office requested time to examine it.

The only account of the alleged incidents in which both Foster and Ennis confirmed is that he broke two of her phones, the other when Foster believed Ennis was video-recording him during an earlier argument.
Ennis has recanted the allegations that led to the domestic violence case.
Police also stated in their report that Foster's home smelled of marijuana, and that besides the rifle, they found a loaded.38 caliber revolver.
Foster was originally charged with possession of a large capacity magazine, but an injunction issued by a district court prohibits the enforcement of misdemeanor ammunition charges.
Foster reportedly physically dragged Ennis out of the home multiple times, according to the police report, as she kept making her way back inside.
- There were two 911 calls.
A friend of Foster's was staying with him. The 49ers general manager also dubbed Foster a potential 'Hall-of-Fame talent, ' which plays a factor in his standing with the team amid his legal case. Despite his missed time, Foster finished second on the team in tackles. "We try to have a consistent standard, but of course, talent kind of dictates some level of that".
