The suit comes after Weinstein entered a not guilty plea following a NY grand jury's indictment on Thursday that included two counts of rape and one criminal sexual act.
In the lawsuit, filed June 1, 2018, in the U.S. District Court for the Southern District of NY, the plaintiffs state they were lured by Miramax or TWC employees and isolated with Weinstein in his office and hotel rooms to discuss involvement in a project.
Brafman denied he or his agency did something improper. She alleged a lawyer with the firm presented himself as working for the victims of Weinstein, and she didn't learn that fact until after she handed material over to the firm.
Thompson also alleges that she approached the law firm of Benjamin Brafman previous year to turn over evidence, before realising that Brafman represented Weinstein.

The RICO suit did not name Brafman, his firm or Spiro as a defendant. The rest, unfortunately, allegedly occurred as described above.
After news broke of Weinstein's string of sexual accusers in October 2017, Thompson "was led to believe that Brafman and Spiro were representing victims against Weinstein", according to the plaintiffs' lawyers.
