The new charges revolve around allegations that Manafort, 69, and Kilimnik, 47, tried to influence two public-relations executives who were involved in lobbying work in 2012 on behalf of the Ukraine government.
According to Ukrainian journalists, kilimnik was in charge of the office of Manafort in Kiev since 2005 and 2015, is a citizen of the Russian Federation and Ukraine, and in the past was a military translator.
The Manafort case though focuses on his work between 2004 and 2014 in Ukraine for pro-Russia politicians including former Ukraine president Viktor Yanukovych.
Perhaps more important is that an alleged line from the Russian government to the Trump campaign could be getting clearer.
Last night, some bad news came to light for Donald Trump's former campaign manager, Paul Manafort. They accused Mueller of conjuring up a "sinister plot" and said the allegations were meant to generate widespread - and intensely negative - media coverage of Manafort.
He has said he met with Kilimnik in person in May 2016 and again in August 2016 in New York City, about two weeks before Manafort resigned as Trump's campaign chairman.

The victor of Thursday's semi-final will also decide the world number one spot which Muguruza held for four weeks a year ago . Two-time major victor Kerber raced into a 4-0 lead in the first set before having to rely on a tiebreak to nudge her ahead.
Manafort notes that Mueller "does not even identify...the substance of what was discussed" in the 84-second phone call and deems the first text message ("This is paul.") unworthy of an official response-aside from saying that it does not "merit a response". His co-defendant, Rick Gates, pleaded guilty in February and agreed to co-operate with prosecutors.
On Monday, Mueller asked a Washington, DC, federal judge to send Manafort to jail for allegedly attempting to get witnesses to lie for him in court.
The additional charges could add to pressure on Manafort to cut a deal and cooperate with Mueller's probe, legal experts said.
Kilimnik also faces those charges of obstruction and conspiracy to obstruct.
Mueller's team is asking the Washington, D.C., federal court to revoke Manafort's current $10 million bail and is asking that the court "promptly schedule the hearing called for by the statute to determine Manafort's release status".
In the case of the former Mr. Manafort reached out to suggest they talk about details of matters under investigation. The previously pending charges against Manafort of course had nothing to do with the synthetic collusion hyseteria over the 2016 election.
Manafort's alleged actions took place before he joined the Trump campaign, the president said on social media.
