Real Time Astrology: March 1 – 16, 2015

Feeling the tremors of barely contained seismic activity yet? March packs a whole hell of a lot of heat into such a small time frame. Nearly every day of the month brings to a head the frictional power of one transit or another. All four elements- fire, earth, air and water- are under intense pressure to perform at their highest potential. Not the time to expect to relax, OK? Even if you feel nothing but optimism, a lot will still be asked of all of us.

Hot damn!! That’s not even the rest of the month…

The last in the series of seven exact squares between Uranus in Aries and Pluto Capricorn will, without a doubt, be the most dominating factor. The psychosphere will be drenched in this. A feeling of a vice tightening that will only increase the closer we get to the exact square. The series of squares has been engaging in epic cosmic warfare these past few years – since June 2012- to reshape life as we know it, on personal and global levels alike, so you can bet your ass that this series will not end on a whimper. You cannot fight this energy. The best you can do is look for the path it is trying to forge for you, your family and community, your fellow human beings the world over, and use this energy to fight for you instead.

March is not without its pitfalls, but it isn’t without its opportunities, either. There is a Grand Fire Trine in effect from the final week in February until about the third week of March; consisting of Venus, Mars and Uranus in Aries, Jupiter retrograde in Leo, and Saturn in Sagittarius. Zoom zoom! There is certain optimism and warmth from this Grand Fire Trine, which will peak around the Jupiter-Uranus trine March 3. Creative potential abounds with this, provided you take advantage of it and do not allow the good times to make you feel too good and pass you by. Some “lucky” unexpected breaks may come from this, both large and small, but don’t expect this to happen without effort. More likely, the “luck” won’t be luck as much as it will be the ability to seize any opportunity that comes knocking.

The emphasis on Venus and Mars will keep the pot stirring in our personal lives, especially regarding money, love, sex, relationships, values, and new directions taken in these areas. Venus and Mars in Aries aspecting Jupiter in Leo and the Uranus-Pluto square represents a fresh breeze blowing through our lives, revitalizing our most vital energies and providing the vim and vigor to make the changes we want to see happen now in the aforementioned areas. Venus aspecting Jupiter and Uranus can bring unexpected news and developments in our romantic lives. Squaring off with Pluto, though, may also dredge up lovers or heartbreak from the past that we’d prefer to forget. New relationships and partnerships of every kind can form from this and will most likely be transformative in some way (though, not necessarily stable or long lived.)

Once Mars in Aries begins its aspects to Jupiter and the Uranus-Pluto square, optimism and warmth will overlap with sudden changes of direction, impatience, and arguments, and not necessarily for bad reasons. We will all be feeling excited and stimulated in the best and worst of ways, and there may be less time and energy to devote to tact and diplomacy. The theme here is breaking new ground, fighting for freedom and independence, throwing off shackles and being released from control via gaining our own control. As life speeds up it may be inevitable that some toes are stepped on in the process. Caution should be used as these energies heat up, as there is very real potential for danger and accidents.

A wrench gets thrown in our plans mid month as the Grand Fire Trine begins to break up; Mercury enters the sign of its detriment, Pisces;  and especially as Saturn slows to station retrograde. Saturn is the buzzkill of the party. As it begins its retrograde period at 4 degrees Sagittarius (until August 1, with a brief dip back into Scorpio mud and muck), our outlook may suddenly feel less sunny, more pessimistic as we are faced with the bare bone reality of our lives. As I’ve said in my previous articles, Saturn in Sagittarius wants to know better so that it can do better. As Saturn retrogrades, the “knowing better” part involves retracing the steps we’ve taken since Saturn first entered Sagittarius late December 2014 and seeing whether we really got off to the right start. We have to know that we have been building on solid ground. After so much distinct forward-looking energy, the Saturn retrograde can be a heavy crash for some. Especially after Mercury enters Pisces, and our mental and verbal functions and communications become a little fuzzy, a little murky and frustrating. It is important to remember that plans formulated with passion at the beginning of the month may lose steam or change shape at the middle of the month. This only means a second look, more sober and restrained, needs to be taken.

Expect the unexpected, and expect anything and everything. Plan for change as best you can, and be ready to shift gears if necessary.

The Saturn / Neptune square is in effect…

Most people who read here likely already have a certain degree of astrological knowledge and will have likely already seen that the square between Saturn in Sagittarius and Neptune in Pisces are now in close enough orb to be considered in effect (though the first square isn’t exact until November). It is still worth mentioning for those who didn’t know or had forgotten about it, and for anyone who may find they have been experiencing odd emotions or events lately.

The effects of the New Moon / Supermoon and the Pisces stellium last week were nothing to sniff at. I don’t know many people who didn’t experience sleep disturbances, either oversleeping or being unable to sleep and not feeling rested. Dreams seemed to be a hot topic for some, and there were many who experienced frequent, long lasting and vivid dreams that were definitely strange and in some cases disturbing. Even after the stellium shifted from a Pisces one to an Aries one late Friday and into Saturday, there was considerable exhaustion lingering from diving into the bottom of the emotional and psychic Pisces water well.

As the Pisces stellium came and went, however, the Saturn-Neptune square tightened and has begun seeping into the psychosphere. It may have been difficult to separate the effects of the square from the effects of the New Moon and Pisces stellium last week, but if you find certain themes or events are lingering or increasing then you may need to consider that it may be the beginning of how the Saturn-Neptune square will affect you.

It is well worth considering the nature of things that are happening and began happening last week, especially the following: synchronicities; things seeming to come “full circle” or unravel; dreams, either waking or sleeping; anxieties without clear cause; depersonalization; being strongly drawn to things or subjects out of the ordinary; little oddities that seem to be repeated in some way; conversations that took an unexpected direction; thinking something internally and then seeing a reflection of it externally in some fashion; strange “coincidences” that didn’t seem coincidental; anything that seemed to be a hint, clue or nudge from the universe or God. If it seemed to have meaning or carry a message, it really did. Try not to jump to conclusions too quickly about the meaning or message, it probably isn’t exactly what it seems, but do keep it at the forefront of your mind. Remember that we’re just at the beginning…

March will be one hell of a wild ride, it’s certainly possible that intuitive information coming through now will be useful next month.

Real Time Astrology: February 18 – 23; New Moon / Supermoon in Aquarius & Pisces

An eccentric, magical and genuine anomaly of a New Moon will take place Wednesday, February 18 at 5:47 p.m. Central Standard Time. The Moon will be leaving the last degree of Aquarius and entering zero degrees of Pisces that very same minute, so deciding whether this New Moon is an Aquarius or Pisces one is literally a matter of seconds! If you go with Aquarius, it is the second New Moon in a row in the sign, but going with Pisces makes it the 5th and final New Moon taking place at zero degrees of a sign (a series that began with a significant New Moon eclipse at 0 Scorpio in October 2014.) Technically, a New Moon cannot take place in two signs of course, but if there was ever a New Moon that would challenge that rule, it would be this one. Makes perfect sense: after all, Aquarius disregards convention and Pisces blurs lines and boundaries. My opinion, then, is that both signs will flavor this New Moon in turns.

Adding to the specialness, this will also be a “Black Moon” and a Supermoon. A Supermoon is a New or Full Moon that coincides with perigree; that is, it is within 90% of the moon’s closest point to Earth in its orbit. This is the second of six Supermoons in 2015. (The first was the New Moon in January, though some astronomers questioned whether it was truly close enough to qualify. The next Supermoon are this New Moon/solar eclipse in Pisces March 20; the Full Moon in Pisces August 29; the Full Moon/lunar eclipse in Aries September 27; and the Full Moon in Taurus October 27.)

Astronomers are looking forward to this New Moon as it is an opportune time to look deep into space for objects that are usually faint, obstructed from view by the usual light of the moon. This Black Moon will bring things to light as a direct result of its lack of light, not in spite of it. It will hide its own illumination and step out of the way, allowing what usually remains dark and hidden to capture our attention. This New Moon will work its magic on each of us in this same surreal fashion. It is almost a crystal ball moon: the energy of Aquarius helping us to look into our futures and to think up innovative ways of taking us there; the energy of Pisces asking us to look deep into our soul connection to each other, to God, to all of life. We will be working with very large concepts and feelings here, make no mistake! Our hopes and dreams, our pain, our deepest soul yearnings will not be ignored and require our full attention and energy.

As always, the house of your natal chart that this New Moon takes place in will be a point of focus on an individual level, but a Moon this strong will not be limited to any one area. There will be manifestation of this New Moon in the outer world around us, without doubt, but it is our inner dimensions that will feel this Moon the most. Both Aquarius and Pisces, in their own specific and unique ways, are associated with connections to people, and people may be seeking out kindred spirits as a result of internal psychic disturbances they can’t quite name or articulate. Feelings will run the full gamut of human experience and seeing any reflection of these feelings in someone else will be attractive.

Only two minutes after the Moon enters Pisces, the Sun enters the sign, creating a large stellium in Pisces that includes Venus and Mars/Eros at the final degrees of Pisces along with Neptune and Chiron. Wednesday and Thursday will be aimless, unfocused days, so remember that as your plans mysteriously fail to work out. Mental, emotional and psychic overload is very likely, so don’t be surprised if you and/or others feel exhausted, overwhelmed, rundown and teary eyed. The Pisces Moon will make conjunctions to Neptune and Chiron, and as a result dreams will be very potent; both heavy and insightful. Extra sensory perception, intuition and any and all psychic phenomena will be considerably heightened and active. Music will not only be soothing and cathartic, but also bring about moments of synchronicity.

A quick word of caution: this New Moon/Supermoon is expected to have very real effects on tidal waves. It isn’t expected by most to be dangerous, of course. I disagree, however. Pisces is a water sign and a stellium this large inevitably causes issues regarding water, especially bodies of water of all sizes. While the coastlines may not see widespread danger, I strongly urge caution on a smaller individual scale when near any body of water or pool, even if it appears safe.

Truly, the only way to cope with this energy is to not fight it and just feel the vast, bottomless depth, the full joy and pain. Give yourself permission to follow whatever road you find yourself on without knowing the destination. Wherever you find yourself at will no doubt be different than you expected but you will gain from it.

You can also take comfort in knowing that no matter how heavy the mood gets, it is very short lived. At 6:11 P.M. Thursday February 19, Mars leaves Pisces and moves home in Aries, the sign it rules. The following day Venus enters Aries at 2:05 P.M., moving into an exact conjunction Saturday February 21 at 11:13 P.M. Just a couple hours after Venus enters Aries on Friday it will be joined by the Moon and,  just like that, the Pisces stellium dissipates as if it were only a dream (which, in many ways, it will be.) We will feel a fire has been lit under us, and driven to get the show back on the road. The conjunction of Venus and Mars in the cardinal fire sign Aries will help translate our insights from the New Moon into goals worth fighting and striving for. Emotional hangups will have to be left behind; a new path will be cleared for us in some way – however small- and we will feel the urge to get a move on, giving it all the vim and vigor we can.

Venus is a feminine energy, Mars a male one… the conjunction between the two in Aries will show how the masculine and the feminine can work together, fighting alongside each other instead of fighting against each other. It is a great energy to take advantage of if you need to reshape a relationship or initiate a new one you want to be different than ones from the past.

On Monday the 23rd the Sun will square reality check planet Saturn. Get a firm grip on the roller coaster energy of the previous days; make it all work for you and drop the rest of it.

Real Time Astrology: Full Moon In Leo February 3, 2015

The Full Moon at 14 degrees Leo will take place Tuesday, February 3 at 5:09 p.m. (Central Standard Time). It will be conjunct Jupiter retrograde in Leo (exact at 11:31 p.m.) and trine Uranus in Aries. It will also sextile the Moon’s Nodes along the Aries/Libra axis. Amid the dryness of Aquarian season and the psychic heaviness of Venus, Mars, Neptune and Chiron in Pisces, this warmly heartful Leo Full Moon will bring luster, sparkle and shine back into our lives.

It should be a good feeling moon for most. The conjunction to Jupiter in Leo will make any good vibes contagious. Even the more introverted people may feel like showing off a bit under this moon. Showing off won’t be a bad thing at all, if done with playfulness and humor. Aquarius season has a way of making people feel less than special; the Full Moon in Leo is a time of reminding ourselves and others of the ways in which we really are special. It is a time to take pride in who you are, regardless of the circumstances you may be faced with.

Artists of all flavors will feel reinvigorated and inspired by this moon. You do not have to be an artist to find forms of creative self expression, however. Even your work or your home life can serve as a canvas for creative ideas. Drawing attention to yourself or your cause will be a little easier now, so take advantage of this energy if you need to win people over to your team. If you need assistance in something, don’t be afraid to put yourself out there. People who have been assuming leadership roles lately may find recognition for their work now.

The house in your natal chart that this Full Moon takes place will show the area of your life taking up the most attention now. While for the most part this should be a buoyant Full Moon, with the conjunction to Jupiter there is a definite “go big or go home!” attitude accompanying it. The good times will feel great, but should any drama arise (and, with Leo, it’s always possible) it may blow up. Arguments and fights started here may take on a life of their own and not blow over quickly enough. Keeping quiet may not be an option, so if faced with a tense situation try to find the humor and keep the laughs going. Flattery works well too… this doesn’t have to be fake or superficial. Many people currently feel their unique qualities overlooked, and acknowledging their talents and efforts will be appreciated. Be generous with your kindness and goodwill and watch it magically come back to you!

Enjoy being who you are, enjoy others for being who they are, and a good time will be had by all. Not bad for a Tuesday evening!
