2016 has seen each month bring a different flavor, alternating between the sublime to the out of control. November rides the middle ground; not as upsetting as earlier in the year but definitely bumpier than the relative calm of October.
The first week of November doesn’t change much. We still have Mercury in Scorpio, Venus in Sagittarius in mutual reception to Jupiter in Libra, Mars exalted in Capricorn separating from a square to Uranus retrograde in Aries. There’s nice aspects between the Sun, Mercury, the North Node in Virgo and Neptune in Pisces, which is providing just enough stimulation without being particularly stressful. There’s definitely something of a dreaminess here in between any rough patches that calms the nerves. A little extra sleep and thus extra time for dreaming is not a bad idea; rest mind, body and spirit. Daylight savings time in the U.S. ends Sunday, November 6th so we’ll be getting an extra hour of sleep here anyway.
Venus in Sagittarius does square Chiron retrograde in Pisces on Friday, November 4th (20 degrees each sign, exact at 11:39 AM CST). This one can be a bit hard, as it tends to bring up people’s insecurities in embarrassing or painful ways, particularly issues around self worth. Remember, harsh aspects to Chiron are not great days for haircuts, buying clothing, or making changes to appearances, moreso when Venus aspects Chiron. Venus perfects a trine to Uranus the following day, which brightens up the mood and can potentially create little unexpected “lucky” surprises for a lot of folks. (Emphasis on “little” and “unexpected”, don’t plan on winning the lottery.)
It’s once we get past November 8th that we can start getting into some trouble again. Here in the U.S., Tuesday November 8th is the Presidential election. As I’ve written before earlier in the year, there’s big issues with this one, and not the ones we know about. There’s much, much more ahead of us in that regard.
For all of us, Mars will leave the sign of its exaltation Capricorn and will enter Aquarius on November 8th at 11:51 PM CST. Mars will be in Aquarius until December 19th; during this time, Mars will be in mutual reception to Uranus retrograde in Aries. Uranus is growing closer to reviving the long dormant Uranus-Pluto square and is the third wheel in the cardinal T-square we’ll have from mid November until well into 2017. Mars in Aquarius in mutual reception to the newly heated up Uranus in Aries will be more actively rebellious than we’ve seen all year. We’ve certainly felt stressed and close to a breaking point many times this past year; Mars in Aquarius is too cool-y detached and cerebral to snap but in mutual reception to Uranus retrograde in Aries, it does -somewhat perversely- enjoy kicking the various hornets nests that are becoming agitated. Be prepared for very big surprises, you can’t make this stuff up…
Venus enters Capricorn on November 11th (10:54 PM CST) until December 7th. Just as the bratty mutual reception between Mars and Uranus starts up, the lovely mutual reception between benefic planets Venus and Jupiter ends. Venus in Capricorn is less expressive, more austere, and far more concerned with financial security than fun and games. Venus in Capricorn is not bad, mind you, but it is more sober and realistic, especially where money is concerned. Given all the other changes we’ll have this month, Venus in Capricorn reminding us to be frugal may be a blessing.
Mercury enters Sagittarius November 12th at 8:40 AM. The communication planet is in detriment in Sagittarius, so expect logistics to start going a bit wonky. We’ll have a Mercury retrograde period from December 19th until January 8th in Sagittarius and Capricorn, and while we won’t feel the retrograde just yet in November do keep in mind Mercury will still be debilitated by being in Sagittarius; if you’ve got important conversations or meetings or papers/contracts to sign or file, you might want to utilize Mercury in Scorpio through November 11th as best you can.
There’s a Full Moon/Supermoon in Taurus on November 14th, followed by Neptune stationing direct at 9 degrees Pisces on Saturday, November 19th (10:38 PM CST). Just like with any Neptune station, expect slowness, fatigue, weariness and a general out of focus feeling around this time. More so this year, as Neptune stations direct at the same degree as the New Moon Solar Eclipse in Virgo we had September 1st. Neptune was involved in that eclipse, so those of you who took a hit from that eclipse can see some of those issues resurrected here at the Neptune station.
The Sun enters Sagittarius on Monday, November 21st (3:22 PM CST) and then we’re fully in Sagittarius season, along with Mercury and Saturn. A Mercury-Saturn conjunction occurs Wednesday, November 23rd at 16 degrees Sagittarius (12:44 PM CST). Mercury conjunct Saturn can show sober realities or it can show pessimism and depression. In Sagittarius, it comes from hard realizations of truth. Being overly optimistic may have lead some of us to believe lies; this sobering and awakening to reality can be unpleasant. However, remember that Mercury is debilitated in Sagittarius so being overly depressed and defeated by this is just as unrealistic. Take stock of situations as best you can, but it’s probably better to let this weaken a bit before acting on how you feel here.
Thursday November 24th is Thanksgiving Day here in the U.S. The Mercury-Saturn conjunction will still be in effect but past exact, so hopefully it doesn’t dampen holiday spirits too much. (Though, Sagittarius is notorious for blurting out hard truths, and Thanksgiving is notorious for being the holiday that family members decide to do just that…) What we do have on November 24th is much bigger. This is the first exact square between Jupiter in Libra and Pluto in Capricorn, at 15 degrees each sign which means Jupiter will have just entered the via combusta.
Jupiter square Pluto is a notorious aspect for money, especially big money. Expect some financial shakeups to begin here. Last year, the holiday season had Jupiter in Virgo, where Jupiter isn’t particularly happy and this was reflected in less-than-enthusiastic holiday shopping. This year, Jupiter in Libra has its mojo back and doesn’t mind splurging, so my initial thought was holiday shopping should increase and see a little stimulation in the economy. However, Venus in Capricorn is aware of financial limitations, and I believe Mars in Aquarius in mutual reception to Uranus retrograde in Aries plus the revived Uranus-Pluto square/cardinal T-square involving Jupiter in Libra is going to see increasing civil unrest by months end, so it’s hard to say. As far as the family events, Jupiter in Libra in the via combusta square Pluto on Thanksgiving can represent stress due to unfair (Libra) family dynamics and structure of authority (Pluto in Capricorn).
The following day, Venus in Capricorn perfects both a square to Jupiter and a conjunction to Pluto. In the U.S., this is Black Friday. In my opinion, you’re better off skipping it this year; too much risk of losing money either through overspending through overconfidence or actual theft.
On Saturday November 26th Mercury in Sagittarius squares Chiron in Pisces at 21 degrees and trines Uranus in Aries. This looks weird to me as it is both indicative of hurtful or embarrassing conversations as well as exciting, inspiring ones. I guess you’ll know which ones you’ll be having based on how well the previous week went!
The month ends with a Sagittarius New Moon on November 29th, same day Venus at 20 Capricorn perfects a sextile to Chiron in Pisces and a square to Uranus in Aries. The square is again another wobble in personal and global finances. Now, not all the shakeups in money that start in November are going to affect everyone equally; some will lose but others will do quite well. What we’re dealing with is the element of surprise, very big and powerful surprises, and that uncertainty -which will largely tie into political changes and civil unrest- is the dominant factor in finances at this stage.
Chiron stations direct at 20 degrees Pisces on December 1st (3:53 AM CST) so the last day of November will see a considerable discomfort descend. Watch your health here.
