Real Time Astrology: November 2016

2016 has seen each month bring a different flavor, alternating between the sublime to the out of control. November rides the middle ground; not as upsetting as earlier in the year but definitely bumpier than the relative calm of October.  [Read more…]

Real Time Astrology: New Moon Solar Eclipse in Virgo September 1st, 2016

The New Moon Solar Eclipse at 9 degrees Virgo takes place on Thursday, September 1st, 4:03 AM Central Standard Time. It is an annular solar eclipse, meaning it will create the visible coronal ring (“ring of fire”) most people associate with eclipses. The closer an eclipse is to the Moon’s Nodes, the stronger; with the North Node at 12 degrees Virgo this does set us up for a powerful and intense eclipse! The Sun, New Moon and North Node all in Virgo will be joined by Mercury retrograde in exact conjunction to Jupiter at 28 degrees Virgo. That’s quite the five star stellium! The Virgo New Moon/Solar Eclipse/stellium will also form a formidable mutable T-square by squaring Mars at 14 degrees Sagittarius and Saturn at 10 Sagittarius, and opposing Neptune retrograde at 10 degrees Pisces.

The orbs are tight for this one; no room for anything but a major event. The depth, power and complexity of everything that’s going into this eclipse gives me a sense of a “perfect storm”, in that it will probably be easier to assess the aftermath than it will be trying to understand it as it unfolds.

Real Time Astrology: August 2016

The summer drags on. There’s a sense of relief as some of the harsh space weather temporarily eases up, but also fatigue from the battle to keep it together. August’s astrological forecast isn’t the easiest thing but it isn’t the worst. It’s better at the beginning than at the end; soak up the Sun of Leo season and restore your courage under the Leo New Moon on August 2nd in preparation for the turbulence.

Real Time Astrology: New Moon in Leo August 2, 2016

The sublime New Moon at 10 degrees Leo takes place on Tuesday, August 2nd at 3:45 PM CST. Compared to the other wild and often stressful lunations we’ve had so far in 2016, this Leo New Moon looks great! It’s not a particularly potent one, which again is something to be grateful for. The Leo New Moon forms a very tight trine to Saturn retrograde at 9 degrees Sagittarius; a stabilizing harmonious aspects that takes the uplifted mood and roots it in solid form. Buoyant but not over-the-top.

Wanna Seduce Aries? Seduce Their Mars Sign First!

The question of how to appeal to Aries – the sign of high vitality and low attention span – was brought up recently in a consultation with a client. I felt it was worthy of its own explanation in a post. A lot of people read those by-the-numbers formulaic astrology instructions on how to seduce this or that Sun or rising sign, with mixed results. Probably the very last sign you’d want to try such an approach with is Aries. It’s a common mistake to think that Aquarius is the most individualistic sign of the zodiac; that title actually belongs to Aries. Arise is the first sign of the zodiac and as such identifies closely with its ego and desires much the same way as a child does: purely and instinctively and immediately. Aries likes to think of itself as being as unique as a single snowflake (regardless of how true that might actually be), so approaching them as if they can be neatly summarized, as if you already know something about them, is the very last thing any of them want.

A better attempt of understanding how the Aries ego and energy is expressed, and how to pique their curiosity enough to want to pursue/be pursued, is to look at their Mars sign. You may think that passion for everyone is shown by their Mars; that’s true, but more true for Aries. As the ruling planet of individualistic, independent Aries, Mars colors each Aries persons approach to romance and seduction. Looking at the sign and house that Mars is in as well as the aspects it makes in the Aries persons birth chart will provide you with a lot of information about what gets them excited. Not all Aries want to pursue or be pursued in aggressive, Mars-y ways; their love style may not be obvious and it’s better to find out what they really want than to assume.

A small basic sampling of Aries through their Mars sign:

R.I.P Muhammad Ali – Still The Greatest

ripali2016-500x532.jpg

Yet again a hero to many has passed away this year. Death seems to have made a pact with 2016 to only take those who meant so much to us, those who stood for something. Yesterday, June 3rd, it was announced that Muhammad Ali died. The fact that he had [Read more…]

Real Time Astrology: Full Moon in Sagittarius May 21, 2016

“It’s all fun and games until someone gets hurt!” is a saying that springs to mind with the Full Moon at 1 degree of Sagittarius on Saturday, May 21st at 4:14 PM CST. This is the first of two Sagittarius Full Moons in a row, with the second one occuring at the anaretic 29th degree on June 20th. (There will be a separate writeup for that one.) This May Full Moon at 1 degree Sadge will of course oppose the Sun at 1 degree Gemini. More importantly, though, [Read more…]

May definitely starts off on with a slower, calmer tempo than the previous months, but a little too slow. Frustratingly so; slow as cold molasses as some old country folks would say. We start off May with Mercury freshly retrograde in Taurus, along with [Read more…]
