2016 was, of course, the year of change and transition. A rocky, slippery slope that we can see clearer in retrospect was a detour into unknown territory for the purpose of testing our faith and mettle. In many ways 2017 will pick us up out of the ditch and move us forward on a clear trajectory again. Regaining a more visible and structured path does not translate into an easier year; 2017 is a year of contradictions openly challenging our convictions as we’re honing them.

The general gist of what 2017 has in store: [Read more…]

Real Time Astrology: New Moon In Sagittarius November 29th, 2016

Astrology new moon Sagittarius November 2016

Hope” or “nope“? Painting by Casey Weldon

The brash and highly charged New Moon at 7 degrees Sagittarius takes place on Tuesday, November 29th (6:18 AM CST). This is one most people will feel coming. The New Moon will be conjunct fixed star Antares and in exact conjunction to soul mate asteroid Juno, square Neptune at 9 degrees Pisces and the North/South Nodes at 8 degrees Virgo/Pisces.

If you’re one of those folks who’ve felt recently that their adrenals and serotonin receptors simultaneously blew a fuse, you may as well prepare for this Sagittarius New Moon to work your last damn nerve. I’m not saying there’s no good news, but I am saying this one isn’t going to have the usual bouncy, buoyant feel typically associated with Sagittarius. [Read more…]

Real Time Astrology: New Moon In Scorpio October 30th, 2016

The New Moon at 7 degrees Scorpio takes place on Sunday, October 30th at 12:38 PM Central Standard Time. Being at 7 degrees of Scorpio means the New Moon falls inside the via combusta or “burning path”, that rocky stretch of the zodiac. Mercury feels the burn too at 9 degrees Scorpio. The New Moon also trines Neptune at 9 degrees Pisces, putting a heavy focus on the water element. Meaning: heightened and powerful emotional sensitivity and the possibility of psychic phenomena. Real Time Astrology: New Moon in Gemini June 4th-5th, 2016

The frenetic and fun New Moon at 14 degrees Gemini takes place Saturday, June 4th at 10:00 PM CST  (depending on your time zone, it will be in the wee hours of Sunday, June 5th.) The Sun-Moon conjunction will also be in exact conjunction to Venus, also at 14 degrees Gemini, and forming a very tight mutable Grand Cross. The mutable Grand Cross includes the Gemini New Moon-Venus conjunction squaring Jupiter at 14 degrees Virgo and the North Node at 17 Virgo; squaring Neptune at 12 degrees Pisces, and opposing Saturn retrograde at 12 degrees Sagittarius.

As previously mentioned, Gemini (along with the other mutable signs) are bicorporeal or “double-bodied” signs, meaning they relate to concepts of duality and inhabiting different worlds simultaneously. While the cardinal signs initiate change, the mutable signs (which precede the cardinal signs) facilitate changes; the cardinal signs start new seasons (each one occurs at equinox) and the mutable signs prepare us for the changing season. As confusing as a mutable Grand Cross is, it is demanding we adapt to survive and move into the future.  [Read more…]

Mercury Retrograde In Taurus Crosses The Face Of The Sun

A somewhat rare celestial event occurs at 9:57 AM CST on Monday, May 9th as Mercury, currently retrograde in Taurus, crosses the solar disk or “the face of the Sun”. This particular transit of Mercury to the Sun will occur at 19 degrees of the Bull and typically occurs only about 13 times per century; [Read more…]

Real Time Astrology: New Moon Solar Eclipse Supermoon in Pisces March 8, 2016

The Walt Whitman line “I am large, I contain multitudes” is fitting for this potent and complex New Moon Solar Eclipse at 18 degrees Pisces on Tuesday, March 8th at 7:54 PM CST. It occurs at perigee and thus is a Supermoon as well as a complete total eclipse, meaning that the typical large appearance of a Supermoon will instead be replaced by utter blackness, except [Read more…]
