Real Time Astrology: Full Moon in Libra April 10th/11th, 2017

The Full Moon at 22 degrees Libra takes place in the wee hours of April 11th, 1:08 AM Central Standard Time, so this will occur late evening of April 10th for time zones west of CST. Expect a wild night! Here in Oklahoma, this Full Moon will be in the month that usually kicks off our tornado season in full force, and this lunation reminds me of a tornado in many ways.

Real Time Astrology: New Moon In Scorpio October 30th, 2016

The New Moon at 7 degrees Scorpio takes place on Sunday, October 30th at 12:38 PM Central Standard Time. Being at 7 degrees of Scorpio means the New Moon falls inside the via combusta or “burning path”, that rocky stretch of the zodiac. Mercury feels the burn too at 9 degrees Scorpio. The New Moon also trines Neptune at 9 degrees Pisces, putting a heavy focus on the water element. Meaning: heightened and powerful emotional sensitivity and the possibility of psychic phenomena. Real Time Astrology: Full Moon Supermoon In Aries October 15th/16th, 2016

Wild, sexy and dangerous, the Full Moon Supermoon at 23 degrees Aries occurs Saturday, October 15th or  Sunday, October 16th, depending on your location. (It is exact at 11:23 PM Central Standard Time on Saturday night.) This Aries Full Moon is also a supermoon, meaning it coincides with lunar perigee, or the point at which the Moon is closest to the Earth. Huge, highly visible Full Moon to match the volatile emotional temperature. The Full Moon will be in very tight conjunction to Uranus retrograde at 22 degrees Aries, and will square Pluto at 15 degrees Capricorn. That’s right, it is bringing back the dormant Uranus-Pluto square! The lunation is also in wide opposition to Mercury at 15 degrees Libra. Pluto at 15 degrees Capricorn means the orb is wide for Pluto too, but Pluto is a heavy hitter and with the tight conjunction of Uranus, the story of the lunation will be the temporary cardinal T-square which will set the tone for the longer lasting cardinal T-square involving Uranus-Pluto by years end and into 2017.

I’ve said before that the lunar cycles sensitize us to the larger transits; bringing the big issues home. This particular Full Moon in the pioneering sign of Aries will be sensitizing us to the next curveball coming our way. 2016 was a rough go for many people; two steps forward, one step back, constant uncertainty. Much of that peaked in September during the final eclipse season of the year. The Libra New Moon at the end of September, being the first lunation after eclipse season, helped shake off the feeling of getting nowhere. Now, this Aries Full Moon draws our attention to the future, the shape of things to come.

Stop What You’re Doing Immediately And Find Where Freddie Mercury Is In Your Chart!

Freddie Mercury astrology asteroid

Good old fashioned lover boy.

Just when Mercury retrograde was starting to get me down, the real star powered Mercury made everything right again!

There’s been a dizzying amount of astronomical discoveries so far in 2016 (the non-discovery of Planet 9 or Planet X or whatever notwithstanding) that I’ve been meaning to write about but haven’t got around to yet (with Mercury retrograde, I’ve been doing battle with people plagiarizing my writing, for real). But today, September 5th, 2016, the most important moment in astrology and astronomy history (maybe ever) was announced. Today, to commemorate what would’ve been Freddie Mercury’s 70th birthday, asteroid #17473 was renamed Freddiemercury. Asteroid #17473 was discovered in 1991, the same year Mercury left this world, providing proof he really was from another dimension. As I’ve written about before, any celestial body worth its salt will have a synchronistic connection and backstory to its name; the synch of Freddiemercury is all the proof I need that this virtuoso cosmic body should be used in every astrology reading henceforth!

No, seriously, find Freddiemercury in your chart. Now. Go to https://astro.com and put in your birth data to make a free chart. Once you’ve saved it, at the top of the screen click “Free Horoscopes” and click on “Extended Chart Selection”. Once there, scroll to the bottom of the screen. You’ll see an empty bar that allows you to enter asteroid numbers. Put in 17473 and click “Click Here To Show The Chart”. Boom! You now know where Freddie Mercury lives on in each of us!

Since it’s Mercury’s birthday today, let’s have a look at his chart:

Freddie Mercury asteroid astrology

(You’ll notice he had his own namesake asteroid Freddiemercury in very tight conjunction to his planet Mercury. Tee hee.)

No surprise he was a Leo rising, is it? Sun in the 1st house, beautifully artistic Sagittarius Moon in the 5th, Venus raunchy in the via combusta. Jupiter in Libra. And, like many celebrities, he was a 12th house person as well; for him it was Pluto and Saturn behind the scenes. Underneath the flashy exterior, a world of pain and dreams and beauty and lonesome yearning for something this world never offers. Saturn in hard aspect to Jupiter lead to his overbite caused from having four extra teeth, which he wouldn’t remove because he believed it created the beautiful sound of his voice, and who’d ever want to lose this:

The piano playing, though? That’s all Mercury (no pun intended). Venus and Leo and the 5th house and Jupiter in Libra, etc.: these are things in astrology that show creative artistic appreciation and potential but the manual dexterity performers run on is, more often than not, their Mercury and/or Mars. (Which is why I’m currently writing about a musician and not playing music myself…) Freddie Mercury was a Virgo and Virgo runs on proper skills. Those people who go on and on about what a flamboyant “showman” he was are doing his memory a disservice; he was a proper songwriter, producer, and multi-instrument musician as much as, or more, than anything else. He did it so well he made it look easy.

So, happy birthday Freddie Mercury and thank you for even glamming up something like astrology.

Spread the good word: the sexy breath of fresh air we all want and need comes with the ingress of jolly lucky celestial giant Jupiter into the sign of Libra on September 9th, 2016. I, along with most astrologers, am very excited about this transit. 2016 has drained a lot of color and glamour and joie de vivre out of us; Jupiter in Libra restores all this and then some.

Since August 11th, 2015, we’ve had Jupiter in Virgo. Jupiter is in detriment in Virgo, meaning the planet struggles to express its natural traits. Jupiter is the planet of good luck, good times, good humor; given to largesse and excess. Too much of the good things is Jupiter’s preference. In Virgo, Jupiter’s larger than life exuberance was considerably thwarted; Virgo being the sometimes fussy, persnickety sign focused on micro details and puritanical perfection. Nothing against Jupiter in Virgo; Jupiter is always astrology’s “greater benefic” and makes our lives a little easier regardless of what sign it is in. However, Jupiter in Virgo was Jupiter redux, and spent most of its transit in hard aspects to Saturn in Sagittarius and Neptune in Pisces which further drowned it’s natural buoyancy.

Jupiter gets its full mojo back when it moves into Libra. Libra is a [Read more…]
